WHISPERS CARRIED BY THE NIGHT WIND

Excerpts are supposed to give you a taste of the work. Like a trailer, they’re supposed to convince you to read a particular work. However, this particular excerpt is not going to do that. Instead, it is going to be overly long and annoying. It is going to keep giving itself pats on the back (and the front, and all over) for oh-so-cleverly breaking the fourth wall. And this it is going to do with a hint of irony, so that the author cannot be accused of narcissism, and cheek. In fact, the author just hopes that this pathetic meta-excerpt will earn him brownie points on the post-modernist scale, and he will be lauded for thinking out of the box. And when that doesn’t work he will take to begging you to read his work. Please read my work. Pretty please.
