Honestly, I don’t know.

My name is Adhithya Sivakumar. The first part of that name, ‘Adhithya’ is one of the many names of the Hindu Sun God. This fascinated me when I was a child. I went about pretending to be the Sun God, shining warmly upon those I liked, frying the blood out of those I didn’t. I had an overactive imagination then. I still do today, I suppose, though it has been tempered by the process which we call ‘growing up’. A process by the end (does it even exist?) of which we are supposed to know enough about ourselves and everything around us to deal with whatever Life tosses indifferently at us.

That is what I’m trying to do: make sense of myself and everything around me in my own terms – by imposing dramatic structure, ridiculous hyperbole, free verse, and cheap symbolism, on mundane occurrences. I can’t think of a better way to summarize my motives in creating this blog than the following lines from ‘A NOISELESS PATIENT SPIDER’.

“…On a little promontory, it stood, isolated;

Mark’d how, to explore the  vacant, vast surrounding.

It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;

Ever unreeling them-ever tirelessly speeding them…”

-Walt Whitman

Yep. We bloggers tend to be a pretentious bunch, on the whole. 😛
